Dr Philippe Wuyts applies a modern, evidence-based and integrative approach in his daily work, with respect for each person's unique background, values and objectives. Consultations are constituted around an open exchange in which the unique and individual nature of all aspects of the presenting complaints is explored in detail.
During the initial consultation a comprehensive diagnostic psychiatric assessment is conducted. This includes a detailed exploration of the presenting issues, the current mental state and its relation to external factors and unique individual psychological development in a dimensional context. This is completed with an extensive personal, educational, family and medical history, after which the most appropriate treatment modalities are discussed and defined in mutual agreement.
In addition to establishing effective treatment in a medical sense, the development of a participatory and collaborative relationship is emphasised during subsequent sessions in order to enable better understanding and insight in the origins of the distress and to empower the individual with knowledge, skills and tools to work towards a healthier future and to minimise chances of relapse.
Treatment typically consists of a combination of the following: - psycho-education - psychopharmacological treatment and follow-up - family meetings - discussion on meditative and relaxation techniques - stress- and time-management techniques - supportive psychotherapy based in phenomenological psychotherapy and logotherapy - referrals to other medical specialists and/or specialised psychotherapists - discussions on relevant literature
Dr Philippe Wuyts commits to the highest ethical and deontological standards of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion.
